Ridgecroft School is an independent, college-preparatory school serving students in Kindergarten through 12th grade, with a state licensed preschool program for 3- and 4-year old children.  Located in northeastern North Carolina between the towns of Ahoskie and Murfreesboro in Hertford County, the 83-acre campus includes 22 classrooms, a media center, two computer labs, a science lab, a multi-purpose gymnasium, a cafeteria, administrative offices, playgrounds, athletic fields and an outdoor classroom.
 
 

Originally chartered in 1968 by local parents seeking to expand the educational opportunities in the Roanoke-Chowan area, Ridgecroft opened its doors September 9th, 1970 with 170 students in grades 1-9. Today, Ridgecroft serves students from Hertford, Bertie, Gates, Halifax and Northampton counties.

Since 1984, Ridgecroft School has maintained accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which ensures strict standards regarding curriculum, faculty and staff preparation, physical facilities, and equipment. 

Ridgecroft offers Advanced Placement courses in English, U.S. History, and Calculus and foreign language instruction in Spanish and Latin. Students may choose from a variety of electives, including art, band, yearbook, physical conditioning, and have the opportunity to compete in interscholastic athletic programs. Extracurricular activities include Key Club, Beta Club, Battle of the Books and the Jammin’ Rams Pep Band. Throughout their time at Ridgecroft, students discover and cultivate their strengths, grow as scholars and citizens, and enrich the school community and the world around them.
